Listen and Respond- A legacy of leading that our community deserves

In partnership with the Lebron James Family Foundation, Pegs Foundation, AxessPointe, and Coleman Health Services has walked alongside each other for over three years as the launch of this facility for the community has come to life. Fostered and nurtured through trusted members of the community, we have been able to yet again listen and then respond to the need of the I Promise Families and the entire community. Leading the way; in hopes for a nationally recognized model for how other communities can listen and respond to meet social/emotional, and physical needs through collaboration.

Brooks Collins-Gaines,

Director of Behavioral Health

My name is Brooks Collins-Gaines. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Trauma Practitioner-Clinical and Doctoral Candidate, born and raised in Akron, Ohio. I have been working in the mental health field since 2001. I began doing prevention groups with children, adolescents, and parents before transitioning into early childhood mental health consultation and Help Me Grow. Early in my career, I found my way into supervision but eventually returned to direct care, working with adolescents and families with intensive needs.

As a Black woman, I have noticed and even experienced disparities in various systems, including access to and treatment of mental and physical health. My passion for youth, families, and my community has led me to engage in research to understand better how to eliminate barriers and reduce disparities in access to mental health treatment. My mission is to make change on a systemic level while training/educating future therapists to provide intentional, culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. I am grateful to work with Coleman Health Services and its various partners that share my values to serve my community with innovative, collaborative care.

Coleman is grateful for the generous support from Peg’s Foundation and the Summit ADM Board.
