Crisis Stabilization Unit

Managing psychiatric emergencies and stabilizing crises.

About Crisis Stabilization Units

Crisis Stabilization Units (CSUs) serve people facing addiction or mental health crises.

CSUs offer multi-day stays in safe, comfortable neighborhood settings. Clients will develop a treatment plan with their providers and determine appropriate length of stay – receiving medication management, individual and group counseling, linkage to community resources, and 24/7 care and monitoring.

The individual is then referred to a less restrictive outpatient service where they can continue on their treatment path and reach their recovery goals.

Community Partnership

Psychiatric professionals and mental health agencies count on Coleman’s CSUs for high-quality crisis services. Referrals to Coleman guarantee excellent response and responsible care.

Likewise, first responders know that Coleman’s CSUs can offer stabilization services that can reduce disturbances in the community.

About Our Staff

All Coleman CSU staff – clinicians, psychiatrists, nurses, and technicians – receive robust training in how to provide trauma-informed care. Our compassionate and caring staff serve our clients in a variety of ways, including case management, medication management, counseling, admission and discharging, and more.

About Our Facilities

A Coleman CSU is a safe and welcoming trauma-informed environment. It is a private location in a safe, quiet neighborhood.

During 2026, our CSUs in Allen, Portage and Stark Counties are receiving full renovations of the facilities to ensure the highest levels of comfort and quality during your recovery time. Coming soon is our new CSU and walk-in crisis center in Ross County and our new Behavioral Health Urgent Care in Belmont County.

Clean & Sanitized Crisis Center

Coleman takes a whole-person approach to wellness – making sure crisis recovery treatment takes place in a sanitized, inviting, and relaxing crisis center.

Nutritious Meals

Our in-house kitchens serve fresh, healthy meals from a menu plan developed by a professional nutritionist. Clients may participate in the preparation of meals with new appliances – which also helps engage clients in their treatment and contributes to building life skills.

Sensory Spaces

Our innovative staff have created a colorful garden that makes our fenced-in property an oasis where clients can relax and even help maintain the flowers and plants!
