Community health and wellness center offering medical, dental, optometry, and mental health supports along with on-site pharmacy and lab services in collaboration with AxessPoint and Coleman Health Services is now open to the entire community

July 16, 2024 – Delivering on its commitment to uplift and redefine community, the LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF) today is celebrating the official opening of I PROMISE HealthQuarters, a comprehensive community-based primary care center offering medical, dental, and optometry supports with on-site lab services and a reduced-cost pharmacy provided by AxessPointe as well as mental health services from Coleman Health Services. Designed with the needs of I PROMISE families in mind, I PROMISE HQ is now serving the entire Akron community with family-oriented primary care that is centrally located at 527 W. Market Street, directly across from LJFF’s House Three Thirty.

“Since learning that access to affordable health care has historically been a challenge for our families, we’ve been working around the clock to remove that barrier. We’re incredibly proud to be opening I PROMISE HealthQuarters today alongside AxessPointe and Coleman Health Services, the true experts in these critical areas, that will serve not only our families, but the entire Akron community in our We Are Family way,” said Michele Campbell, Executive Director of the LeBron James Family Foundation. “We can’t wait for everyone to experience this holistic style of medical and mental health care that puts families first in every way.”

To mark the opening of I PROMISE Health Quarters, today LJFF, AxessPointe and Coleman Health Services are hosting an open house to showcase the state-of-the-art facility and all of its amenities. The community is invited to explore the innovative space and learn more about its wide-ranging services dedicated to providing quality, affordable healthcare for everyone. This innovative model also sees I PROMISE students and family members among the trained and certified medical professionals serving alongside the experts at Axess and Coleman.

“Coleman Health Services is thrilled to be part of the I Promise HealthQuarters,” Hattie Tracy, president and CEO, said. “Our partners at the LeBron James Family Foundation, Peg’s Foundation, Akron Public Schools, and the County of Summit ADM Board have helped to make this possible, and we are extremely grateful. Working with AxessPointe, we are confident all of Summit County will benefit from having access to physical and mental health services that have been developed with the unique needs of THIS community in mind.”

“AxessPointe is thrilled to be partnering with the LeBron James Family Foundation to expand healthcare services to the West Akron community,” said Mark Frisone, Executive Director, AxessPointe. “As an FQHC, our primary goal is to reach those who are underserved, and that’s just what we’ll do at the Health Quarters. Through our primary care services including pediatrics, dental, optometry, and on-site pharmacy, patients will have access to convenient health care, regardless of insurance or ability to pay. You can’t really get more comprehensive than that.”

I PROMISE HealthQuarters represents the latest innovation in the LeBron James Family Foundation’s work to redefine what family looks like while providing a new model for community building. This new offering is within walking distance of the I PROMISE School that serves students and families with wraparound supports, the I PROMISE Village that provides emergency and immediate short-term housing, I PROMISE Housing that delivers long-term affordable housing, House Three Thirty that offers job training and financial health programming, and the I PROMISE Institute that gives higher education support.

I PROMISE HealthQuarters is now taking appointments for primary and mental health care services. To make an appointment, call I PROMISE HealthQuarters at (330) 510-4747.

About the LeBron James Family Foundation

With a commitment to redefining community and building stronger families, The LeBron James Family Foundation invests its time, resources and passion into creating generational change for kids and families through a focus on education and co-curricular educational initiatives. With its foundational I PROMISE Program, LJFF serves more than 1,600 students and their entire families by providing them with the fundamental resources, wraparound supports and family programming they need for success in school and beyond. In 2018, the Foundation built all of its family-first programming and academic interventions into the groundbreaking I PROMISE School that has created a new model for urban, public education. The Foundation has layered in additional resources including higher education and family supports at the I PROMISE Institute, emergency and immediate short-term housing at the I PROMISE Village, long-term affordable housing at the upcoming I PROMISE Housing, job training and financial health programming at House Three Thirty, and primary health care services at I PROMISE HealthQuarters.
