About Nelson Burns

For nearly 36 years, Nelson Burns has served as President and CEO at Coleman Professional Services. During his long tenure, he has grown Coleman from a local community mental health center serving 1,000 people in a single county to a multi-faceted organization addressing the needs of more than 30,000 in 22 Ohio counties.

Under his guidance, Coleman has expanded its range of services from psychiatry, counseling, and case management to employment and housing assistance among others, staffed by caring compassionate professionals who meet the high standards of care Coleman has established.

Help us celebrate Nelson burns by attending our virtual farewell event and supporting the Nelson and Suzanne Burns Endowment!

The Nelson and Suzanne Burns Endowment

From the beginning, Nelson’s goal has been to ensure Coleman improves the lives of people it serves by delivering mental health, substance use, residential, and rehabilitation services, regardless of their ability to pay. Now, through the Nelson and Suzanne Burns Endowment, his legacy will continue.

In celebration of his years of service to Coleman, Nelson and Suzanne have pledged $10,000 to launch the Nelson and Suzanne Burns Endowment. Our goal is to raise $35,000 for Nelson’s 35 years as CEO.

The goal of the Nelson and Suzanne Burns Endowment is to support Coleman’s greatest area of need. As Nelson’s leadership has demonstrated, a successful nonprofit must be responsive to the needs of the communities it serves. With the money provided by this endowment, Coleman will have the flexibility to address the specific needs on a per-area basis, rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach. We hope you will join them by making a contribution and support Coleman’s mission.
