KENT, Ohio, March 4, 2021 – Coleman Professional Services has been awarded a $4 million, two-year Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) expansion grant by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The CCBHC is a national model and will strengthen and transform how behavioral health and physical medical services are provided to adults and children with mental health and substance use issues by providing integrated, holistic care. The counties where Coleman will be implementing this grant are Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Jefferson, Portage, and Stark.
“We are thrilled to be awarded this important funding,” Nelson Burns, Coleman president and CEO, said. “There are only 11 CCBHCs in Ohio. This brings national attention to the work Coleman is doing and will allow us to provide more comprehensive services to the clients we are honored to serve.”
SAMHSA awarded close to $490 million to CCBHCs to increase access to community mental health and substance use disorder treatments. The agency is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. SAMHSA’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s
communities.
“As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, Coleman will provide an expanded array of services and function as a true safety-net behavioral health provider in the six designated Ohio counties,” Hattie Tracy, Coleman senior VP of clinical services, said. “These counties have a combined population of 800,000 adults & children, 52,000 of whom are veterans. We expect to provide CCBHC services to 43,000 individuals over the two-year grant period.”
