Psychiatric and pharmacologic management services are provided by a team of licensed professionals, including psychiatrists, physicians, APRNs, RNs and LPNs, who often refer a patient to Coleman Behavioral Health for psychiatric services.
Common reasons for those referrals include:
- Treatment for depression
- Suicidal thoughts
- Treatment for anxiety
- Treatment for bipolar disorder
- Treatment for schizophrenia
- Psychiatric assessment
Psychiatrists and advanced practice nurses (APNs) provide interventions used to reduce, stabilize and/or eliminate psychiatric symptoms with the goal of improving functioning, including management and reduction of symptoms. Psychiatric services provide education to the individual in care and his or her family.
The psychiatric services team may perform a psychiatric/mental health examination. The team may consider assessment data from behavioral health professionals, professionals from other disciplines, families or advocates.
Psychiatrists and APRNs prescribe appropriate medications with the consideration of allergies, substance use, current medications, medical history and physical status.
The psychiatric services team is available to meet with individuals and families to discuss medication and its actions, effects and side effects so that they can effectively participate in decisions concerning the medication that is prescribed to them.
Psychiatric services are offered in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Jefferson, Portage, Stark, Summit, and Trumbull counties. To find out more about what Coleman can provide for you, call (330) 673-1347 or toll-free at 1-800-673-1347.
