Treatment for Dementia

Dementia care specialists at Coleman Adult Day Services offer goal-oriented activities for the mind, body and spirit.

Research suggests that physical and cognitive stimulation has a beneficial effect on the memory of people with dementia. There is also evidence that people with dementia who take part in activities for the mind, body and spirit exhibit an improvement in overall quality of life. We have found that offering a variety of structured group activities provides stimulation and the best opportunity for success for our participants.

By enhancing self-esteem and encouraging socialization, we are able to delay or prevent your loved one from being placed in a nursing home or assisted living facility.

We provide daily physical exercise programs to promote strength, flexibility and balance. Sensory stimulation can help to calm and provide a sense of well-being. We also offer engaging and entertaining programming for participants at all interest levels in a warm and friendly environment.

A meaningful day for your loved one could include:

  • Animal therapy
  • Art therapy
  • Baking
  • Cultural and musical programs
  • Dances
  • Discussion groups
  • Games
  • Intergenerational programs
  • Memory exercises
  • Monthly communion service
  • Music
  • Range of motion physical exercise
