Services for the Developmentally Disabled

Totally Be You Programming

Totally Be You is adult day care programming intended for younger adults (18 years+) with a developmental disability. The program is based on providing socially appropriate activities in community settings. This group participates in volunteerism, wellness, social and cultural activities. Community outings include volunteering at the Salvation Army in Windham, attending Marcum's Martial Arts classes in Kent, trips to the Kent State Wellness Center, visits to art studios, dance lessons, library visits and much more.

Currently, participants attend programming from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and/or Fridays. We have 15 individuals attend on each programming day. Coleman provides hot lunches for the days participants are in the building and also packed lunches for most of the days they are out of the building, unless otherwise stated. Participants, however, are responsible for the cost of some of our outings. Most of our participants are involved in other types of programming during the same week and opt to join us one or two days.

Retirement Programming

Coleman Adult Day Services offers many different activities to the older developmentally disabled population. These activities are centered on cognitive and physical stimulation that enhance an individual’s abilities. Individuals participate jointly with the seniors who attend Coleman Adult Day Services. Music, dance, church services, games, trivia and bingo are just a few of the daily activities offered. Monthly field trips are offered such as fishing, farm visits, bowling and dining out.

A team approach ensures each individual’s care and well-being. Nurses are on duty during programming hours for health assessment and medication administration.

To enroll in programming, contact the Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities at 330-297-6209 and let them know that you are interested in enrolling a loved one in the program.
